Poacher Mug

Lincolnshire Poacher

2008

This year, as part of HALO's Development Plan to encourage newcomers to our Sport, and for Orienteers with less experience a 'Yellow' Course will be included at venues where this is suitable. [Most!]

The Poacher Series of Events has always been open to all but it is recognised that the Courses are approximately equivalent to Green [Long] and Light Green [Short] and are not always appropriate for all who wish to participate especially Juniors and Adults with little/no orienteering experience.

The Yellow Course will be planned according to BOF guidelines. 1.5 - 2.0 km length with controls on or next to paths on large, distinct features.

This course is suitable for all ages and will present a navigational challenge. It is suitable for those who cannot complete the Short Course within about 45 minutes. Please support this initiative. We hope that Planners additional work is not wasted.

Some Coaching will also be available for newcomers and those who intend to do the Yellow Course. If you would like some Coaching please contact the Organiser who will arrange for one of our newly qualified Coaches to meet you at the beginning of an Event.

At a District [colour coded] Event, the results are presented and a Colour Standard is calculated. If a competitor achieves the colour standard 3 times within 2 years, a Colour Badge may be claimed. HALO will award Badges, to those who qualify, at the end of the Series.
